Welcome Party
Rocktown Rallies worked closely with the local Refugee Resettlement Office to host a Welcome Party for more than 50 recently resettled refugees. The party was held at the Explore More Discovery Museum on October 16th. There were approximately 300 people in attendance. Children were able to play games, explore the museum, and enjoy face painting courtesy of Larkin Arts. Amazingly delicious and ample food was donated by numerous local restaurants and generous individuals. Entertainment was provided by James Madison University acapella groups Exit 245 and the Overtones, as well as by acoustic artist Dane Fox. Generous donors provided thousands of dollars in gift cards for local refugee families, as well as gifts for the children. Volunteers from Park View Mennonite Church donated handmade blankets for all of the children, and WVPT and Elkton Area United Services donated children's books. The generosity on display that magical evening is a testament of what it means to live in the "Friendly City."
